Sadly, I've got to sell my fabulous ANTbike.  Yep, the one I got just a couple blog entries ago.  Bread is tight and we have some upcoming purchases + Uncle Sam that are seriously pinching the pocketbook.

So...

Custom made by frame builder and ANTbike founder/CEO/and only employee, Mike Flanigan, for himself.  Built in October of 2005.  Sold to me, just a few weeks back.  I rode it  7 maybe 8 times for a total of 15, maybe 20 miles... tops.  So it's still exactly as seen in the photos below.  Perfect condition!

The technical stuff:

XO - 26" wheel commuter bike:
Fits someone from 5'7" to 5'9" with a 31" to 33" inseam.
50st [ctc] x 56TT sloping TT upright position w/brand new 80mm Nitto stem,
North Road bars,
Shimano Nexus 7 speed internal gear hub coaster brake [back pedal],
Shimano front dyno hub w/ roller brake [like a drum brake],
Brooks B-17 saddle,
new T-serve tires 1.75",
fenders,

kickstand,
chain guard,
custom rear rack with wood & cargo net,
Sugino XD crank [170mm],

Very new condition [built in Oct. 05].

It's a fantastic bike in every way, rides amazingly comfortable and stable... fun as shit to ride too!  Fairly heartbroken to be selling it but we need the scratch more than another cycle right now.  This is a steal of a deal... Mike charges $1400.00 for one of his XO framesets, so you're getting a boatload of value on this.  Basically a new custom frameset with free: smart/sensible/great components and shipping.  Not bad, eh?

Copper Mining...

Well we went out tonight for our 1st "family ride" in a good long time.  With Amy's Copper bike being built and selling off old stuff... she had no ride for quite some time.  So if she had no ride, Chloe had no ride [at least with her Piccolo].

All of that changed tonight!

After installing the Moose Rack on Amy's bike, and checking a bunch of stuff like tire pressure, QR's, chains needing oiled, etc... we got underway.

Beautiful night for it too.  Slightly breezy, warm though, and even the throngs of Rush Hour cars and foot traffic around here seemed happy as it was Friday.

Besides having to steer around and in between the occasional puddle of human vomit [must be a new Yuppie thing... Friday+Post-Work+Happy Hour=Drink Like An Asshole Until You Run Outside And Puke On The Sidewalk], we had a great time and fantastic ride.

A New Place to Buy Stuff...

Out in the Twin Cities [a place I don't live in or even close to] a new bicycle shop has opened and is creating a little buzz [little buzzes are good buzzes because they often become big buzzes but in a good way].

The place is called Hiawatha Cyclery and the owner is a fella by the name of Jim Thill .  Jim believes, as do I & a small pocket of others, that cycling can be a good thing.  No, not in some Lance Armstrong-kick the worlds ass-get ripped pecs-leave your wife who's been through thick & thin with you for a rock star chick-kinda way [some of that might be ok though... kicking the worlds ass and having ripped pecs & such]... but instead, in a getting fit-being social-not being a part of the huge problem of nonstop car usage while constantly suckling the oil tit-kinda way.

Yeah, that way.

He's aiming to sell [and has already from what I see at his site] practical shit for cyclers.  And you know?  That makes sense to me!  Why?  Cause, is there any other type of cycling when you weren't born with ungodly & inhuman DNA packed into your genes?  If you ride for fun, to get somewhere, with your significant other, your kid[s] or just to feel like a kid again [hey, that's good enough for me] maybe you just oughta click the link for Hiawatha above, check out the what, where & why of Jim's offerings and do something for the "Small Guy"... call him or email him for something.  Heck, even something small. 

You gotta embrace someone taking a chance these days.  He's not Wal-Mart, he's not Big Box... he's not even setup in a strip mall or some other urban sprawl'y locale.  He's in a neighborhood, in a storefront that has been a storefront before.  It's small, he'll pump your tires up for free, probably loan you his bike if you don't look too shifty and I'm pretty sure he'll make some coffee for you if you ask.

So step away from your Bike Nashbar & Performance Cycle catalogs for a minute, stop price shopping the shit out of inner tubes, bar tape or a new handlebar bag for a second... and give the guy a shout. 

I promise it won't hurt one little bit.  Tell him the Large Fella sent ya and Jim might even say something like, "Ohh, that guy.  Ok".
