But my knees have been bitching at me. Like 2 pissed off male feral cats tossed together in a brown canvas sack with a can of Starkist and some catnip thrown in for good measure. Fighting me and not really letting up. They hurt to stand up and they hurt to sit down. They don't hurt when I'm sitting or while I'm upright. It's just the in-between shit that's killing them, and then me.
Today I took Amy & Chloe out for a surprise-post Christmas gift... Ice Skating at a big, huge ice complex. 5 full sized Olympic-sized rinks. Chloe has never been skating and Amy hasn't since appx. 1985. Going down our rather large, steep outside steps I stepped down with my right leg leading and heard/felt a pop followed by searing, burning, red-hot pain in my right knee. Same thing happened back in the Summer with my left knee. I almost fell when my knee buckled from the pain and instant weakness.
Anyway, they had a great time while I sat with my throbbing right knee taking pics of them out on the ice. Chloe did great and by the second session [after an intermission for their Zamboni to come out and smooth the hacked up ice from all the dickwad Gen-X'ers who had on their obligatory costumes of over sized Homey jeans, mega-large hooded sweatshirts with ice hockey skates... who would skate around at 10009283 miles an hour and do a hockey-style/sideways stop, thus spraying the young and old alike with shitloads of ice] was using both feet for kicking. She was great! Amy and her wiped out only twice and Amy has an almost perfect reproduction of the state of Florida outlined on her ass that is turning nicely black-n-blue. Sexy [in a sort of Ghetto way].
Another first occurred... Chloe actually said [and I quote!], "Mommy, Daddy... I'm tired. My legs feel like rubber and I'm ready to go home". WOW, she's NEVER been ready to leave ANYTHING fun ever before without at least a full-blown, Defcon 5-style meltdown.
Now we know... "Wanna tire her out? ICE SKATING!!"
I gots me some dodgy knees as well.
It sucks getting old:-)

Man, good luck with your knees. I'm glad Chloe had a good time ice skating. Maybe it's time I took Sadie and Zeb back for another try. Last time we went, BOTH of them needed ALL my attention, and it became this slow death march around the ice rink.
I'm still off coffee, again. And I haven't been eating any refined foods, so my vacation out here in the East has been, "No, no cookies, thanks. No, no pie. No, I don't think I want any cake. Thanks." It's difficult, but my asthma is better, and this is the healthiest I've been at my in-laws. Usually I sit around inhaling triscuits and cookies when I'm out here.
Happy New Year.
