Copper #2
I never thought this would get so much attention... it is getting attention far & wide. I guess Bob & me had some good ideas. I have received about 25 emails from all over asking about the details, the price [none of your business ;-) ], if I'd like to sell it [yeah, nice... "Here honey, Happy Anniversary-I love you... ummm, now I need to repack it and ship it to some guy in Japan with deep pockets but I DO love you"] and in general... good tidings/compliments.
Wow!
The lineage is pretty much this:
Bob did some lugs for his new bride and I saw them and liked them a whole bunch. So I thought about having him do something specific that I was thinking about for my wife Amy as an Anniversary Gift. I bugged Bob to carve some lugs that represented a specific theme in Amy's life... Bob more than delivered.
I then discussed how I wanted it to look... Bob said, "No dice, can't be done", I backed off [knowing that I had many months to arm myself with more ammo to mount a second strike on Bob's good graces]. As things were nearing completion with regard to lugs and brazing I struck... Bob said, "No.". I licked my wounds and pretended to be thinking seriously about a wet-paint scheme. Bob was pleased. And then... I struck again! This time Bob got very sick of my whining, pleading, moaning and bitching and said, "I'll look into it but don't get your hopes up".
My hopes were VERY high up.
Bob called one day and was more excited than I've ever heard him... I knew we had something. So did he.
Until I got the first pics of the fork [seen in my last journal entry] I NEVER knew exactly HOW special that something was though...
To say I'm blown away would be a vast understatement. Bob is not only a gifted frame builder [obviously] but, I must say-and I don't say shit like this very often [ask my wife], he's a True Artist. A True Artist hiding inside an engineer/part-time skinsmith/frame builder/cycler & very humble-modest cat.
I think Amy will be really pleased with this. :-)

Big Guy, I better see this cool creation with your wife next time I'm out that way! : ) It's hers period, you'll know once you see the super-secret BB detail I put in...
Send that guy in Japan to me for his own!
